Hard Disk Director v.4.70 Registration (docs)
UTIL OCT91 MENU DIRECTOR SHELL
FILES: hddir470.sdn
Hard Disk Director is a very powerful but very easy to use
Hard Disk Menu and DOS SHELL. The programs are brightly
colored and intuitively designed so that they can be easily
used by novice and expert alike. All programs load and
operate very quickly and don't require endless navigating
through menus. The hard disk menu has unlimited sub-menus
with each having up to 20 entries. The DOS shell has
directory tree and file views for copying viewing and moving
files. Advanced features of the DOS shell include marking and
copying or moving directories or directory branches even
across drives. Director can also give you a complete file
listing of every file on your hard disk or disks up to
available memory.
You can mark files in the DOS shell and then pop up the hard
disk menu over the shell and run programs with the marked
files as command line arguments. Director swaps itself out to
disk or expanded memory (user configurable) so the memory
overhead when running programs is only 2kb. The registration
fee for Hard Disk Director is $40. For $40 you get a new
diskette without registration reminders, a printed 66 page
manual and unlimited technical support via phone, mail or
CompuServe.
Hard Disk Director is the only shareware DOS shell to come
with file viewers for many popular PC programs. The current
list of file viewers are:
ASCII and Hex, WordPerfect 5.0 and greater, MS Word and
Windows Write, WordStar 4.0 and greater, Word for Windows,
dBASE, FOX Pro and compatible, Lotus, Quattro Pro and
compatible and PCX picture files.
New to this version is the ability to mark files and compress
them with PKZIP or LHA/LHARC. This option requires you to use
your own versions of these programs.
This version also sports a viewer for files compressed in the
ZIP format. Besides viewing a file list of the Zip file's
contents, users can view or run a particular file in the
viewer as well as mark files and extract them. This viewer
requires that the user has their own copy of PKUNZIP for
extracting files.
