  6. Hard Disk  Director is a very  powerful but very easy  to use
  7. Hard  Disk  Menu  and  DOS  SHELL.  The programs are brightly
  8. colored and  intuitively designed so that  they can be easily
  9. used  by  novice  and  expert  alike.  All  programs load and
  10. operate  very quickly  and don't  require endless  navigating
  11. through  menus. The  hard disk  menu has  unlimited sub-menus
  12. with  each  having  up  to  20  entries.  The  DOS  shell has
  13. directory tree and file views  for copying viewing and moving
  14. files. Advanced features of the DOS shell include marking and
  15. copying  or  moving  directories  or  directory branches even
  16. across  drives. Director  can also  give you  a complete file
  17. listing  of every  file on  your  hard  disk or  disks up  to
  18. available memory.

  20. You can mark files in the DOS  shell and then pop up the hard
  21. disk  menu over  the shell  and run  programs with the marked
  22. files as command line arguments. Director swaps itself out to
  23. disk  or expanded  memory (user  configurable) so  the memory
  24. overhead when running programs  is only 2kb. The registration
  25. fee  for Hard  Disk Director  is $40.  For $40  you get a new
  26. diskette  without registration  reminders, a  printed 66 page
  27. manual  and unlimited  technical support  via phone,  mail or
  28. CompuServe.

  30. Hard Disk  Director is the  only shareware DOS  shell to come
  31. with file  viewers for many popular  PC programs. The current
  32. list of file viewers are:

  34. ASCII  and  Hex,  WordPerfect  5.0  and  greater, MS Word and
  35. Windows Write,  WordStar 4.0 and  greater, Word for  Windows,
  36. dBASE,  FOX  Pro  and  compatible,  Lotus,  Quattro  Pro  and
  37. compatible and PCX picture files.

  39. New to this version is the ability to mark files and compress
  40. them with PKZIP or LHA/LHARC. This option requires you to use
  41. your own versions of these programs.

  43. This version also sports a viewer for files compressed in the
  44. ZIP  format. Besides  viewing a  file list  of the Zip file's
  45. contents,  users can  view or  run a  particular file  in the
  46. viewer as  well as mark  files and extract  them. This viewer
  47. requires  that the  user has  their own  copy of  PKUNZIP for
  48. extracting files.
